Von Julie Liu (, hat übernachtet in vacation apartment "Goethe"):
Danny and his brother were wonderful hosts! Not only did he accommodate last minute of our additional guests with extra beds and blankets, he picked us up at the Hbf with two cars so we and our extensive luggage pile fit. The apartment, albeit a drive from the city center is recently remolded to be modern chic (they need to update the pictures on the website), extremely clean and wonderfully sunny. There's a small bakery around the block to grab morning coffee and a large range of savory and sweets (try the donuts!). We were in town for the Toy Fair, so we took taxis to the Messe (about 25 euros, 20 mins), but there was also a bus station a short block away to the train station, from which you can access the city train and get to the main station in city center.
We truly enjoyed our stay, and what value for the money! Danny says he also has two other apartments in the city, I know where we will be next year!

Von Christopher Kelly (Kirribilli, Australia, hat übernachtet in vacation apartment "Roessner"):
Hi Bettina,
Thank you for your help with our accommodation in Cologne, the apartment was very suitable for us. The lady, while she didn't speak much english, was very helpful and really kept the apartment well.We were delighted to wake up one morning and it had snowed the night before, being from Sydney we are not use to snow at the front door, and the christmas decorations were wonderful.
Best wishes to you for the holiday season and the new year,
Rosemary and Chris Kelly

Von Lachlan Kennedy (, hat übernachtet in vacation apartment "Lohengrin"):
We stayed in the Lohengrin apartment. We could not have been happier. The apartment is spacious, warm and welcoming. It is decorated with antiques, some of which reflect the name of the apartment.
It is a simple walk from the train station(and the bus to Ludwig's castles), and equally simple to,walk into the old part of town. It was very cold while we were in Bavaria and the apartment was warm and cosy.
The owner speaks English, is affable and helpful.
If you don't want to take your luggage up the stairs, book the downstairs apartment.

Von Jen Romero (, hat übernachtet in vacation apartment "Köln (4)"):
Perfect size with all the amenities included. A little difficult to get in touch with the owner to get the keys, but once we did, he was very accomodating. Definitely recommend this apartment and service!
Munich, 1 week, December/January 2011
Von Christine Stallkamp (Wynnewood, Pennsylvania, USA, hat übernachtet in vacation apartment "Janosch (Giesing)"):
Hi Bettina,
I wanted to let you know that we had a fabulous time in Munich. The apartment worked out just fine. It was very close to several grocery stores and to the Ubahn. Kent was able to get out with us every day. We took the train down to Tegernsee one day for sledding then to Lenggries another day for skiing. It was great!
Only negatives to the apartment were: very limited kitchen, which was not conducive to meals in the house. The "stove" was basically 2 burners on top of a toaster oven that required cooking at chest- height (beware of pointy- bras!) Also, the towels were pretty old, tiny and thin. We thought the bathrooms were very good based on European standards, even thought the hot water was intermittent.
Overall, we had plenty of room and were able to be together, which was the goal. Thanks for all your help. I hope you and your family had a wonderful holiday time.
Thanks so much!
Chrissy Stallkamp
Bamberg
Von Susan Thievon (, hat übernachtet in vacation apartment "Alicia"):

Nurembeg, 4 days over Christmas 2010
Von Robert Sigworth (Traverse City, Michigan, USA, hat übernachtet in vacation apartment "Southside"):
We were met on time by the owner, who was very polite and showed us a few things about the apartment. He made sure we knew his phone number for any problems. His english was good enough, and he made up for any lack by a big smile.
The apartment itself was bigger than I had expected. The website was confusing in that I think it said one bedroom, but the floor plan showed two, and indeed, it did have two bedrooms. Perfect for us as the second bedroom was large and had two single beds. The bathroom is nice, with the toilet in a different room from the bath, which is nice for families.
The kitchen was great, large, nice appliances, lots of counter space. We cooked both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day dinners in the oven, which was nice to have. Everything was well stocked for us, including necessary items to wash dishes, and even soap for laundry.
The living room was huge. I appreciated the little touches there, such as a cabinet with some artwork, and other items hanging on the walls. We felt right at home, and it was a nice place to share Christmas together. The owner even put up a little Christmas tree on the dining table, and we put our presents around it, just like at home.
I really have no complaints about this apartment. The location was good as far as getting groceries, with a grocery store a block away. It is about a 10-15 minute walk to the train station, easy to find. Yes, it is in the opposite direction from the Old Town, but that was not a big deal. Indeed, from what I saw, it is probably easier to get groceries in this neighborhood than in the old quarter.
Thanks for your professionalism in our dealings with you prior to our departure. I will certainly recommend you to anyone going to Germany.
Sincerely,
Rob Sigworth

Von Mitchell Price (Saegertown, PA, USA, hat übernachtet in vacation apartment "Lothringer Dell (Erdgeschoss)"):
The apartment was great, it met our expectations and provided us an opportunity to truly “live like a German” for 10 days. Our hosts, the Moritz’s, were helpful and gracious. This was a much better experience than staying in a hotel would have been. I would not hesitate to recommend them or your service to anyone traveling to Germany.
Thank you,
Mitchell & Tammy Price

Von Dave Drury (, hat übernachtet in vacation apartment "Rattmann (1)"):
Stayed in this apartment for about 10 days. Apart from the strange welcome we received we were very impressed with the apartment itself and the hospitality offered.
↵↵There wasn't wireless as agreed, rather single fix line. Good security, quiet location and very warm.

Castle Sommersdorf, Burgoberbach, 4 nights in April 2010
Von Kim Bouchard (Clinton, NC, USA, hat übernachtet in vacation apartment "Sommersdorf Butterfly Room"):
Hi, I am an alumni Mom from last year. For my son, the last few months were the ABSOLUTE best and his family in German loves him as their own child. In fact, several members of his family visited for several weeks last year when he returned, which really helped with his transition back to USA (which has been difficult). We also visited in April during our Easter break.....BIG MISTAKE! Germany takes their holidays SERIOUS! EVERYTHING was closed Good Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday! We stayed for 12 days and had a GREAT time, but the 4 shutdown days on our arrival was a little un-nerving! Carry multiple credit cards and make sure to "clear" them with the cc company BEFORE you leave. Also, all public restrooms cost 1 Euro to use.....I used a LOT of EUROS!
My BEST hint: We booked and pre-paid for all or our accommodations BEFORE leaving the USA. We stayed in apartments and small homes, and even a CASTLE (Sommersdorf) while were gone...all at a fraction of the cost hotel, plus we were a total to 5 traveling (we brought along Doran's host brother). We always had a real place to call "home" and spend some quality time together and apart! Wetzlar was our absolute favorite...we stayed in a beautifully decorated 2 bedroom apartment, kitchen, washer/dryer, and large living room. Our apt. was on the second floor of the main street overlooking the entire village. It was only about a 30 minute drive into Cologne for day trips. Sommersdorf castle in Burgoberbach was also a stay to remember for ALWAYS!
Here is a link to Live Like a German that we used to broker all of our accomodations. It was a real relief to have it done before we left. Also, don't forget to pre-book and pre-pay for your rental car. Again, credit cards are sketchy in some places at best!
Have fun,
Kim Bouchard
