We were satisfied. The apartment was suitable. But we missed a more detailed map of how we should get there, walking from the station. It was not a long distance, but when you do not know where it is, it seemed a long walk.

The distance to Ulm by train, and the departure times should be given to people. Also departure times of buses to the other small cities in the region. And which buses (number upon the bus) going to where.

Otherwise, we were satisfied.

Could you give me links for apartments in the Freiburg area? I hope to return another year.

The apartment was quite perfect. Everything we needed was provided and we could shop for groceries nearby. The location was ideal: 3 minute walk to the path along the Donau (Danube), ten minute walk to the old town. We only saw the owner briefly, we had had difficulty reaching him to arrange a time to meet and as a result he had already been waiting for a while and was a little rushed. Our only quibble was no internet/Wifi and I would suggest a grab handle for getting into the shower. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Regensburg, we took the opportunity to visit Munchen and Dachau while we were there.

The apartment was perfect for two people and we loved the old town. We will certainly be using your services again if we return to Germany.

We had a marvelous time! All I can say was that Elizabeth & Lou were wonderful hosts and the place was clean, comfortable and quite a good location to visit castles, cathedrals and have Schnitzel mit bier !

Hi Bettina,
My wife and I had a great time in Germany, thank you for asking! The life-style in Oberstdorf was very seductive. The quiet (except for the belled-cow “parade” every day – which was also relaxing), the wide range of hiking options, the ability to go anywhere without using a car, and the amazing food & beer. The apartment was small by comparison to those here in the US, but quite functional; besides, we only slept there. Frau Blattner, our landlady, was very pleasant and supportive. She had suggestions regarding hikes, restaurants, and even loaned us trekking-poles.

The only special tip I would offer another traveler, is that, unlike the TV commercials here in the US show, credit cards are not very welcome. Even at the Hofbrauhaus in Munich, credit cards weren’t accepted.

Maya and her husband were very kind and helpful and Trier is a lovely city with plenty to do for a long weekend. The flat is very central indeed - about five minutes walk. The kitchen is good - tastefully modernised and quite well-equipped.

The flat suffers from being a converted shop/business - the sitting room feels very un-private with a huge window on a busy main road, although it is partially frosted.

But the real problem is the bathroom - it needs some money spent on it. With the window shut, it smells VERY bad, the sink is tiny and too high up, and the taps are "outside" ones. We could not get any hot water out of them, and had to wash in the kitchen. I doubt if Germans really live like this! It would be much better with the drains dealt with and with a decent sink and taps.

thanks for the German phrase book by the way. Yes, we really had a great accommodation at the Heim residence. Hans, Anton, and Norbert were very kind, helpful and informative about the area. The accommodation was clean, comfortable, spacious, and well equipped. We would gladly return and stay longer the next time. The view of Lake Bodansee from our sundeck was spectacular. We were allowed to use the washing machine to do laundry and the outdoor barbeque to cook. Our boys enjoyed the use of the bikes and especially the ping pong table. I was very happy to have located your site and stay at the Heim residence rather than a hotel. We liked the space and freedom it gave us.

We had a great time in Regensburg! The town is so pretty. The apartment was just perfect! It was less than 5 minutes from the Ironman zone and very conveniently located closed by the city center. We love it!

It was well furnished, clean, quiet and big! And the owner were really nice and amiable! They helped us to get oriented in the city!

A very nice vacation! Oh! And I finished my Ironman! You should do some publicity next year around the Ironman. It is really a good place to stay for the Ironman and just for visiting the area!

Tokus Apartment was very clean. The owners were friendly. When I first arrived it was a little difficult because Ms. Tokus was there alone and spoke kein English :)

The Apartment is a bit far from the happenings of the city. The area is mostly residential with few shops or restaurants.

But I did feel comfortable and safe there. Thank you so much!

We though the apartment was fantastic, it was very big but cosy with a wonderful balcony. It was located perfectly for the town centre and was very peaceful and quiet.

The owners were fantastic and couldn't do enough for us - they were always on hand to help if we needed them and were very friendly.

All in all the perfect holiday rental in Munich...we hope to return again one day!

We would recommend using Live Like a German to anyone who is visiting this beautiful country. The Kraft's worked with us extensively to find the perfect place for our 2 1/2 week visit. We were so pleased with Vacation Home Mark - the hospitality and location were perfect! We will definitely use Live Like a German for our future visits.

Here is our review of Vacation Home Mark:

We had the pleasure of staying at Vacation Home Mark for 2 1/2 weeks during July. George, Karin and their daughters were wonderful hosts and treated us like longtime friends. They made us feel welcome and were so helpful during our stay. We shared some meals together and enjoyed many laughs as we talked about our different cultures.

The house was charming. So much nicer than staying in a gasthaus. In fact, we enjoyed the quaint patio that overlooked the well kept backyard/playground so much that we ate most dinners outside. We also loved our neighbors the goats and chickens!

The location of the house was wonderful. Secluded enough to experience "living like a German" but within easy driving distance of Weiden where we visited the fabulous farmers market every Wed. and Sat. to stock up on everything fresh! Erbendorf has a nice pool and the best German eis we had during our trip, especially the dark chocolate. There is a fun lake in Eschenbach where we rented paddle boats with a slide off the back. We also found it within easy driving distance of many day trips - Bamberg (one of our favorite towns), Marktredwitz (our daughter loved the indoor mall), and Amberg. It was also very accessible to Grafenwohr where John had work to do.

We are looking forward to returning to Germany and will definitely stay at Vacation Home Mark again!
